Description:
Far ahead of its time, the stagger wing first flew in 1932.
Called the Stagger wing due to its unconventional wing stagger, where the bottom wing was forward of the top wing. This stagger improved stall handling and visibility for the pilot. The early design also included a retractable gear. The Later D17 included a stretched fuselage and additional modifications. Some of these mods included repositioning the ailerons to the upper wings and improved breaking.
It was designed during the Great Depression primarily for the business executive.
