A lot can change in a matter of days. SouthWest airlines fleet projections have already changed drastically enough to warrant a relook at their pilot demand numbers.
The latest from the last article has changed significantly. Whereas they were looking at a longer-term recovery SouthWest is planning for a full schedule by January 2021. If this holds true this should in fact eliminate most of the furlough talk at SouthWest, and may even justify some light hiring towards the end of 2021.
Out of the 738 aircraft currently tied to SouthWest, only 221 remain parked.
The airline fleet model on the website assumes that some of the older 737-700 aircraft will be retired permanently this and next year but at a much shallower retirement distribution.Updated Pilot Demand Numbers – SouthWest
