Delta has recently announced the removal of the remaining Boeing 747-400 aircraft. An iconic staple of the their Asian system, that was inherited through the NorthWest airline merge.
They had previously announced that 4 of the aircraft would be retired this year, so this announcement is not wholly unexpected. The impact of these aircraft leaving has been reflected in the pilot demand models on the website.
It should be noted when the algorithm calculates for changing staffing needs it does so with an average staffing per aircraft. The Boeing 747 is typically staffed with over 20 pilots per aircraft. The model for now only assumes the average when making calculations.
