As a note to those who use this calculator to obtain ballpark estimates to point themselves in the right direction for their flight planing, the calculator has been updated.
It was found that their was an error in the cruise calculator component when facing large headwinds. This has been corrected to reflect the most efficient speed and altitude to fly even during high head wind situations. Depending on the speed of the aircraft, distance that needs to be traveled, and the rate of fuel consumption it may in fact be more efficient to fly faster into the wind to save fuel.
As a reminder the calculator takes into consideration published POH data for a number of aircraft. It includes as of now
- Cessna 210 M
- Cessna 172 RG
- Cessna R182 RG
- Cessna 320 D
- Cessna 421 C
- Diamond DA-20 C1
- Diamond DA42-TDI TwinStar
